Under
the patronage of Prof. Yasser Magdy Hatata, President of Fayoum University,
Prof. Assem El-Essawy, Vice President for Community Service and Environmental
Development and Supervisor of Postgraduate Studies and Research, accompanied by
Prof. Sherif El-Attar, Vice President for Education and Student Affairs,
attended a roundtable discussion entitled: "Developing University
Education According to Labor Market Requirements." This open dialogue
between the university and the agricultural sector was hosted by the Faculty of
Agriculture in cooperation with the University Career Development Center and
the Alumni Follow-Up Center.
The
event was attended by Prof. Buthaina Youssef, Dean of the Faculty of
Agriculture; Prof. Khaled Attallah, Former Vice President for Education and
Student Affairs; Prof. Gamal Farag, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture for
Education and Student Affairs; Prof. Shaaban El-Nesr, Vice Dean of the Faculty
of Agriculture for Community Service and Environmental Development; Prof. Emad
Abdel Salam, Director of the University Career Development Center; Dr. Nesreen
Nasr, Director of the Alumni Follow-Up Center; and the heads of academic
departments and faculty members.
Also in
attendance were university guests. Alaa Shelaby, Head of the Agricultural
Syndicate, representatives of the Food Safety Authority, and representatives
and managers of private companies in the fields of agricultural manufacturing,
aromatic plants, poultry, and dairy were present at the Faculty of Agriculture
on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.
Prof.
Assem El-Essawy emphasized the importance of the partnership between the
university and the private sector, which contributes to providing diverse
training and practical opportunities that help students acquire the skills
necessary for the job market. He noted that the university provides full
support to enhance the utilization of available resources to achieve optimal
benefit for all parties, aiming to strengthen the partnership according to
academic standards and the application of modern technologies needed by the
employment sector to qualify graduates.
Prof.
Sherif El-Attar also indicated that Fayoum University is adopting the
development of curricula and educational programs in line with the requirements
of the job market and the state's strategy. He explained that the university is
working to integrate modern applied and training courses into the study
programs, given the importance of field training as an integral part of the
educational process.
Prof. Bouthaina
Yousef expressed her pride in holding this roundtable discussion, which brought
together the Faculty of Agriculture and representatives of the private
agricultural sector. She emphasized that the Faculty is constantly striving to
develop its academic programs in accordance with the demands of the labor
market, which faces a significant challenge due to the gap between academic
skills and market needs. The Faculty is working to overcome this gap through
various mechanisms and welcomes all forms of cooperation with private sector
institutions.
The
session was moderated by Prof. Emad Abdel Salam, who explained that the
roundtable aimed to explore avenues for cooperation and training for university
students through several key themes. These included identifying the skills
required of graduates and discussing mechanisms and proposals for joint
cooperation between employers and the university to develop visions and
outcomes that meet the targeted requirements.
During
the session, the discussion was opened with the attendees, and the opinions and
proposals of private company representatives were heard. The importance of
implementing the recommendations in a practical manner to achieve the desired
goals of development was also emphasized.
